Welcome back everyone from the previous forums - say hi and let us know you're on the new site? And if you care to, share your favorite memories of a Stupefying Yarn.

Glad to see you all again! I read Johnny Delta and Strate & Flush every week in the late thirties up til ’46 or so, right as it came out. me and the gang used to pool our pennies to get the latest. When we thought Dark Ocelot was dead I couldn’t eat for two days. Phew!

Beat that!

The school library had three issues of Tales of Old Gnarly I reread til they practically fell apart. I used to have a recurring dream I was actually there! Unfortunately I served in an Oizys temple.

Any more Yarnies in the tri state area?

I used to hang out at the comics shop after school and read the Tales and Succubus horror stuff. Pre-Code! The more grisly the better.

(I mean until my stepdad found out.)

(I was a weird kid.)

Johnny Delta made me the programmer I am today. I wanted to build my own robot butler. Still do.

I must be an outlier for liking the Chestnuts for Children series. Mom gave them to me when I was little and they were way better than you’d think and those illustrations for the condensed Count of Monte Cristo made me want to live in the 18th century just for the clothes. It’s their fault I’m a comp lit major.

Spy stuff for me, all the old WWII adventures and and their weird version of the Cold War. Sly Strate was the coolest and my imaginary boyfriend – which now realize mayyy not have been an option! the truth hurts ;) ;) ;) (And yes I know the antiChina parts were incredibly racist. Different times.)

Hi all. I’m too young to have got this stuff firsthand but my grandfather used to tell me all the old Thor’ax/Esme adventures as bedtime stories. Almost good as seeing it! And one day I bet I will.

Hi all! I'm a longtime Yarnie with a soft spot for the classic Johnny Delta era. I know it's corny but I grew up believing that a good heart, two fists and the scientific method were all it took to fix most problems. Matter of fact, I still do.
